We started Hola Lola Studio in 2023 with the dream of creating a fun and colorful space where everyone can explore their creativity.
Whether you’re completely new to clay, ceramics or already have experience, you’re welcome to get your hands dirty and experiment! Over time, we’ve built a small, vibrant community and love how each person who walks through our doors makes the studio a little more special.
Our classes are mostly taught in English (though we also speak Dutch and Spanish), bringing together a wonderful mix of international and Dutch students. It’s a joy to see people bring their friends—or even make new ones during class. A dream come true!
We focus on personal creativity, encouraging each student to follow their own ideas. As artists ourselves, we’ve filled the studio with pictures, ceramics, and colorful art pieces—to inspire and be inspired.
We’d love to see your ideas take shape—will you come meet us?
Hii! I’m Silvana, a Peruvian visual artist based in Utrecht. In my artistic practice, I mostly focus on sculpture and interactive installations that engage the spectator.
As an artist, I enjoy experimenting with different materials depending on the concept I have in mind. My native language is Spanish, I’m also fluent in English and have a good level of Dutch.
A bit about me:
I enjoy meeting new people, and when I visit new places, I make it a point to explore contemporary art environments. Whenever possible, I escape to the beach and the sea – they’re my go-to happy places in nature.
In my classes,
My objective is to guide students toward learning. I encourage them to embrace mistakes, let go of any fear of making them, and enjoy the learning process. I value the opportunity to experiment with and introduce students to new techniques. If a student has a particular curiosity, we explore and learn together. I also appreciate the importance of learning while having fun and being passionate about what you do. When it comes to ceramics, my specialty lies in handbuilding and sculpture. I enjoy combining these techniques with clay throwing on the wheel. Music and laughter are always a part of my classes.
Hello! I’m Daniela, a Mexican-Dutch self-taught artist in Utrecht. I’ve always been immersed in creative activities and love exploring different mediums like photography, painting, and ceramics. Each medium ignites a unique creative spark, deepening my passion for my work every day.
A bit about me:
I am a very curious person, “why” is my favourite word and I love to explore and understand the seemingly simple things. People watching is one of my fave activities, especially by the beach. I love to capture these memories with my camera and incorporate them into my work.
In my classes,
I encourage students to embrace their ideas and bring them to life. Together, we explore different possibilities, and whenever I feel it’s needed, I gently nudge you to find the confidence to try things yourself. I deeply value the process of learning, failing, and continuing because that’s an essential part of working with clay.
Whether you’re on the wheel or handbuilding, both have their charm and challenges. I’ll encourage you to push a little further where I see room for growth and offer step-by-step guidance when you need it.
The studio is my happy place, filled with music and community. My playlists are as diverse as the people who come through the door, and skill level doesn’t matter—just a willingness to try.
Currently Silvana is working on an art project in Spain. We have two lovely teachers replacing her for the last 8-week course of the year.
“What inspires me are people, places, and nature. I enjoy the small moments that make life special — a shared smile, a walk in nature, a shared meal or the simple beauty of everyday life. And since I’m Slovenian, I have a deep love for the mountains — they always make me feel grounded and at peace.
How did I get involved in pottery?
I’ve always loved collecting handmade cups and pots from the places I visited while travelling. Unfortunately, I can be a bit clumsy, and when something broke at home, I often told myself, “One day, I’ll learn how to fix this or even make a new one inspired by it.”
A few years ago, I finally decided to keep that promise to myself — and from the very first moment I touched clay, I fell in love. Since then, pottery has become my passion and my peaceful escape — a way to calm my mind, connect with myself, and find joy in creating something with my hands. It truly is my happy place.”
